PORIRUA
KAITāIA
Our
Kaupapa
Te Korowai Aroha Whānau Services first established in Porirua in 1993 (as Te Korowai Aroha Whitireia). We are a proud kaupapa Māori community organisation who practice manaakitangata under the banner of ‘te korowai aroha’ (see below for more information). Te Korowai Aroha Whānau Services kaimahi/staff members utilise mātauranga Māori tools, resources, frameworks ands models to engage with whānau and communities.
manaakitangata
is our kaupapa/purpose
Manaakitangata means we support people with tika, pono me te aroha (what is right, just and with love), also our collective pūkenga/skills and experiences we have.
te korowai aroha
is our philosophy and name
Te Korowai Aroha or ‘The Cloak of Love’ is a very important metaphor when it comes to who we are and what we do. It also underpins the mahi and practice of each of our kaimahi.
"Mā te korowai aroha koe,
e manaaki"
